Beginners work through the Learn to Swim programme.  Once they are ready to move to the main pool, they are encouraged to join the Training section of the club to develop their techique, stamina and competitive swimming further.  New joiners who are already proficient enough join the Club directly.

Joining the Club

New applicants who can already swim are invited to attend a trial swim, which is usually held on Sunday evenings at Fleming Park. This must be arranged in advance with one of the coaches or Membership Secretary. An assessment of the swimmer's ability will be made during the trial swim. The applicant will then be advised of the relevant squad he/she will be allocated to and be offered a 2 week free trial period to train with that squad. This is dependent upon age, ability and stamina. If there is no water space available, we have a waiting list. To join the club applicants must complete both Club and ASA the membership forms as necessary, sign the club code of conduct and return these with full payment to the Club's front desk at Fleming Park. No membership application will be processed without the full remittance. All fees are itemised on the club notice board and on the website.

Please note that due to strict ASA regulations some medications prescribed to the child such as asthma medication (salbutamol and/or beclomethasone dipropionate - usually blue or brown coloured inhalers) does mean the club needs to be informed so that it can be registered with the ASA before they can take part in any competition. It is also very important that the club is aware of any swimmer who has a medical condition. This should be declared at the time of becoming a member or as soon after the illness has been diagnosed if already a member.Eastleigh & Oaklands Swimming Club has a membership desk at Fleming Park on a Monday and Friday evening which is staffed from approximately 18:30 on Monday, and from 19:00 on Friday until around 20:30. This is staffed by volunteers so may be unavailable at short notice.
